A  papier-mache tea caddy, in the manner of Henry Clay, of oval form with swing handle, restored decoration with Etruscan style figures, 13cm high x 17cm wide Henry Clay, 'Japanner in Ordinary to his Majesty and His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales' specialised in Etruscan style decoration of this kind. His patent of 1772 listed 'making in paper high varnished panels for ... cabinets, book-cases, screens, chimney pieces, tables, tea-trays and waiters' which marked the start of the great papier-mache industry centred on Birmingham and Wolverhampton.
