An Indian Bidri ware box, circa 1850. The hinged lid with two oval portrait miniatures of Emperor Shah Jahal (reigning 1628-1658) and his favorite Empress Mumtaz Mahal. The emperor's love for his wife was such that he commissioned the construction of the Taj Mahal to house her tomb.
